We helped out in the nursery again today. It hasn’t rained much since Thanksgiving here in Kipahulu, and our nursery uses approximately 80% of our daily water. We rearranged all the bamboo plantings in our nursery to improve efficiency and managed to eliminate more than 50% of our irrigation demands.
We also learned how to use and refill the fertigator, which unfortunately can smell very much like a swamp when left on its own for too long. The rest of the morning we weeded all our plantings and added compost and fresh mulch to keep our bamboo happy.
