Guadua

This morning we finished up the hirose trimming and then moved on to Guadua angustifolia, one of the most popular species for construction and native to South and Central America. While guadua is very strong and a favorite of bamboo builders like Simon Velez, it is also full of some nasty thorns, strong enough to go through a boot sole.

Our standard gear for working with guada is:
Whispering Winds Hat
Safety glasses
Heavy leather gloves
Kevlar Chaps
Boots

Tree saw
Pruners

We survived with a few scratches and are looking forward to harvesting guadua culms for construction and sale.
